As a former Empowered Educator with more than 16 years of experience, Dre’ Helms knows the importance of creating environments that ensure no student asks, “Why are we learning this?” In her current role, Dre’ oversees our Teacher Advisory Board (TAB) and seeks ways to better support educators and share how Empowered’s instructional strategy and resources can transform their classrooms – and student outcomes – for the better.
With degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and Millsaps College, Dre’ continues to live and serve her community in her home state of Mississippi. She draws inspiration from Martin Luther King Jr., the Dalai Lama, and her Grandfather – Poppy – who is a model of resilience. In her free time, she enjoys watching live sports and music, travelling, and spending time with her family and her “fur-children.”
