If you challenged your students to build a tower with on-hand materials that meets the ask of a customer – could they do it? This activity will prove they can. They will, in teams, navigate creativity, collaboration, design thinking, and problem solving to rise to the occasion of solving a problem and improving a skyline.

  • Tower Materials (Popsicle Sticks, Paper, Newspaper, Wire, String, Tubs, Foam, etc.)
  • Scissors
  • Tape or Glue
  • Markers or Colored Pencils
  • Towers Rating Form (Available in Empowered Hub)

Students will see how their unique skills and problem-solving abilities combine to create something truly great – a tower that meets the request of their “client”. Will they share materials? Will they ask questions? Will they focus on height or structural integrity? This activity will require a lot of principled action and creative thinking.
