Young people are often asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Empowered and our partners, like Find Your Grind, are more interested in helping students answer the question “Who do you want to be . . .?”
Find Your Grind, a non-profit, describes itself as an “all-in-one career and future ready learning solution for modern day students.” They aim to help students discover who they are, explore career paths, and develop real-world skills to help them succeed at work and in life.
How do they do this? It starts with their free online Lifestyle Assessment. Formatted like instant messaging with a friend, it takes about 3 minutes to complete.
Questions center around their interests, behaviors, preferences, and comforts. Their answers are instantly analyzed to suggest additional resources that align with how they engage with the world.

By completing Find Your Grind’s “Lifestyle Assessment”, students can:
- Discover their unique Lifestyle based on their interests and strengths;
- Gain self-awareness through reflection and self-discovery; and
- Start exploring who they are now and who they want to become.
Partnering to Empower Young People
Empowered and Find Your Grind, both believe learning should draw from and apply to life beyond the classroom. Empowered helps make it easier and more fulfilling for teachers to add real-world relevance to what they are already doing. Find Your Grind offers resources, specific to “lifestyle” that supplement existing classroom tools and strategies.
Empowered Educators with a free Empowered Hub account can use a new activity to help students turn their assessment into action.
Using the Lifestyle Assessment Reflection Activity
Once students have the results of their Lifestyle Assessment, you can guide them through our Lifestyle Assessment Reflection Activity. The activity digs into the results as student group up by “lifestyle” to how they might react in various scenarios. They’ll connect with other students, explore common interests, recognize differences, and better understand themselves.
